The Commerce Manager server is a web application. Its responsibilities include:

Executing certain scheduled batch jobs for the storefronts and Commerce Manager Clients
Providing Commerce Manager clients with access to the following centralized services:
- Payment processing
- Email sending
- User authentication
- Centralized file storage system CRUD operations
- Search index refresh
