EP Commerce for Adobe Marketing Cloud uses Adobe's eCommerce Integration Framework to integrate with Adobe Experience Manager. The framework contains eCommerce components, an eCommerce API, and an implementation layer.

Cortex Java SDK marshals and unmarshalls request between Cortex servers and the integration layer to power the Adobe Experience Manager components. eCommerce capabilities and business logic powering these components are provided by Elastic Path Commerce Engine through its integration with Cortex.

Additional Cortex resources can be created to integrate with other backend services, which can then be exposed in Adobe Experience Manager through Cortex Java SDK.
