Each version of CloudOps for Kubernetes is supported for 14 months from the date of its release. After 14 months have passed, the version of CloudOps for Kubernetes will no longer be supported. Ensure that you plan to upgrade regularly to keep your Elastic Path Commerce system in a supported and supportable state.
Infrastructure code, such as CloudOps for Kubernetes code, is dependent on cloud providers and other third-party services. AWS and other third-party tools change their services over time. Ensure that the infrastructure code, such as CloudOps for Kubernetes code, is updated regularly to remain current with any third-party changes.
Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service will support any given Kubernetes version for a fixed period of time, generally less than one year. When they cease support for a given version of Kubernetes they may forcibly update the version in use by their customers.
For information on Amazon EKS end of support, see the Amazon EKS Kubernetes Versions page.
Upgrading your Kubernetes version should be done in a controlled manner, and should be synchronized with updates to CloudOps for Kubernetes that supports that Kubernetes version.

A primary reason to regularly update CloudOps for Kubernetes is to update underlying public cloud infrastructure, including the Kubernetes version, in a controlled and tested manner. When CloudOps for Kubernetes updates underlying cloud services, any required corresponding Elastic Path changes are also applied.
Updating Elastic Path CloudOps for Kubernetes ensures that you receive changes required to deploy or redeploy new infrastructure.
Apply CloudOps for Kubernetes upgrades regularly to:
- Ensure your Elastic Path Commerce environment remains supported and supportable.
- Avoid future failures by applying underlying cloud infrastructure upgrades.
- Allow you to maintain the ability to redeploy and rebuild infrastructure urgently should the need arise.
Applying upgrades quarterly is recommended. The changes are smaller when you update more frequently.
After Support Ends
Customers who use a version of CloudOps for Kubernetes that is out of support increase their risk of encountering infrastructure-related issues that may be time-consuming or difficult to resolve. Elastic Path will continue to assist and support customers who use a version of CloudOps for Kubernetes that is out of support but may be limited in the remedies available if infrastructure issues arise. Customers may be asked to upgrade to a supported CloudOps for Kubernetes version to resolve some infrastructure-related issues.
