Professional Certification FAQ

Below is a listing of questions commonly asked regarding the Elastic Path Professional Certification program. If you do not find the information you need below, contact the Education Team at education@elasticpath.com

Q) What if I have already taken the instructor led courses, am I certified?
  • A) Developers who have completed the Developer Engineer Learning Path after September 2015 are eligible to receive their Certified Development Professional distinction. Log into theElastic Path Learning Center and click on the Achievements option on your dashboard to download the certificate.
Q) Can I challenge the Certified Development Professional II if I did not complete the courses for Certified Development Professional I?
  • A) It is possible, but not recommended. If you would like to challenge the exam, contact education@elasticpath.com to make arrangments.
Q) What technical skills should a software engineer have to participate in the Certified Development Professional program?
  • A) Developers should have working knowledge of the following technologies: Java/J2EE (Java 8), Spring (framework, security, MVC), Apache (Maven), JUnit, Git, JPA (OpenJPA specifically), SQL, OSGi, Bash scripting
Q) I have failed the certification exam and the option to retake it is no longer available.
  • A) You are permitted a designated number of attempts for each exam as indicated in the corresponding certification exam description. If you do not pass the exam within the alloted number of attempts, it is assumed you need to take some additional study or practise time and so no further attempts are possible and the exam is locked. If you feel you are ready to attempt again, contact education@elasticpath.com to make arrangments.
Q) I have completed the Certified Development Professional I certification program and would like to take my certifiation to the next level. How do I get access to the exam for Certified Development Professional II?
  • A) If you are interested in taking the Certified Development Professional II exam, contact the Education Team at education@elasticpath.com to make arrangments. Once approved, you will find the corresponding course on your dashboard in the Elastic Path Learning Center.
Q) Is there a cost of fees associated with taking a certification exam?
  • A) There is no additional cost for Certified Development Professional I. The certification is included in your fees for the courses which make up this certification level. Fee information for other certification programs will be indicated as these programs become available.
Q) How long will it take to get results after completing a certification exam?
  • A) Results of the certification exams are immediate. If are not successful the first time, you can take it again as you are allotted a given number of attempts as indicated in the corresponding certification exam description. For the Certified Development Professional II certification exam, a maximum of two attempts are permitted. Additional study between attemps is recommended as you will be locked out of the exam if you do not pass on your second attempt.
Q) Can I take the certification exam online or do I have to go to an exam center?
Q) How long is my certification valid for?
  • A) Certifications earned in the the Professional Certification program are valid for the major version of the Elastic Path Commerce Integration platform from which you earned your certification. For example, if you received your certification on veresion 6.15, your certifcation is valid until verion 7.x is released.
